Electric Management Service
Since February 2001, electricity customers are entitled to switch electricity suppliers. At this time there are six electricity suppliers in Ireland. The difficulty with changing your supply or trying to get the best possible price is that there are aspects of a consumers’ supply which may be difficult to understand.
Each supply is put into a category ( Tariff ) which applies a specific price per kilowatt of electricity used. There are numerous types of tariffs and finding the right one for your supply can be difficult and time consuming.
Pass through charges are charges applied to your bill monthly by the suppliers, eg Power Factor charges, PSO, Maximum Demand charges and MIC charges.
The Independent Market
The Independent Market came about from the deregulation of the electricity market. It incorporates all six electricity suppliers, which means that there is competition out there for all commercial and industrial companies using electricity. With this competition in place we stand a much higher chance of obtaining even better savings for our customers.
Single Electricity Market ( All Island Project)
Joint project between the CER (Commission for Energy Regulation) and the NIAER ( Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation ).
The aim of this project is to establish a single electricity and natural gas market both north and south of the border. The initial set up is geared towards the larger supplies. In consumer terms this means that the buying and monitoring of a particular supply becomes more difficult.
This market is due to commence on the 1st November 2007.
What We Do:
- We analyse your electricity invoices to check if you are on the correct tariff in relation to your supply. By doing this we can also check to see if you have ever been incorrectly charged or if your MIC is sufficient.
- We approach the Independent market on your behalf to try and obtain a better price for your electricity consumption.
- We handle all the registration details as well as other pieces of paperwork needed to alter or move your supply.
- We look at each monthly or bi-monthly invoice going forward to monitor your saving once our recommendation has been implemented.
- We examine the half hourly data, advise on self generation and comment on power factor correction.
- We handle contract renewals and analyse same.
- We monitor the CER, individual suppliers and other approperiate publications.
- Finally, we give the peace of mind to all our customers that they are not only being charged the lowest possible price, but that they are also never being over charged throughout the contracted period.
